We will forever go through challenges.  It’s part of life.  As I reached my 56th birthday, I began to realize that simple fact.  We will always go through challenges.  They are not going anywhere.  I don’t mean to sound pessimistic but it’s true.  We have to face the music.  Even when we strive day-by-day to do our very best, we will face challenges.  Something is either going to get in our way, hurt us, distract us, or down right stop us right in our tracks.  We have to learn to overcome each of those rascals too. Once we realize that it’s part of life, to go through challenges off and on, we will then acquire the skills to master them.

Yes, it can be difficult. Trust me, I know.  But I’ll tell you a little secret.  First, when you are faced with a challenge, ask yourself does it belong to you.  Is it something that right now, today, you can rectify?  If it is, I suggest you fix it and move on.  On the other hand, perhaps it’s not yours in the first place.  Someone, (probably the person who owns it), gave you challenge.  But as you questioned it, you quickly realized it did not belong to you.  It’s not yours.  Return it to the sender. Period!  Life is too short to be chasing down issue after issue.  Once you realize they are not your problems, you can breathe better and feel better about yourself.

And if all else fails, go outside and smell the beautiful flowers. Notice the aromas of each flower and particularly the rose. Oh my, they smell so sweet.  It doesn’t have to be as bad as we receive it.  Just remember many of our issues are really not our issues.  If you give it sincere thought, you’ll realize you can make a difference in some cases and do something about it.  But my friend, it’s not really a big deal.  Stop!  Smell the roses and appreciate life and all the beauty surrounding us.
